There are three key elements to the River Gibbs’ music industry model: firstly the radio station – River Gibbs FM (RGFM), secondly the recording studios and thirdly the distribution network, which will control the record label and downloads. Out of these strands there will be support skills such as publicity, brand merchandising, record producing... all of which will remain under the direct control of River Gibbs.
River Gibbs will use its own talent spotters to find popular bands that are looking for a break, these will then be recorded in the company’s own studios, promoted by their publicity department and played on RGFM. Gigs will be arranged and vinyl and downloads can be produced, of singles, albums and live shows. Any brand merchandising can be organised and sold, again via RGFM.
The core factor of the model is the radio station, from which the other streams all flow and gain impetus. Whether via traditional or new media it is here that the vital airplay time is created for River Gibbs’ own stable of bands, it is here that gigs are advertised, merchandise is promoted and where vinyl and downloads are plugged. It is the sort of coverage that the big labels could only dream about.
